Turning Shared Ambition into Action for Improved Kidney Care

The most complex health challenges cannot be addressed by any one organization alone. Meaningful progress becomes possible when partners come together with a shared ambition to improve lives.

Chronic kidney disease is one of the most significant health challenges of our time, and it is one of the few major noncommunicable diseases with rising mortality rates worldwide.  Often described as a “silent disease” because it can progress unnoticed for years, it is projected to become the fifth-leading cause of years of life lost by 2040.1

At Vantive, we are committed to advancing kidney care and improving the lives of people affected by chronic kidney disease. No single organization can change the trajectory of a challenge of this scale on its own. That is why we work with partners who share our ambition to improve kidney health.

Through our partnerships with advocacy groups, professional societies, global health institutions, and community organizations, we help advance awareness, strengthen support, and improve access to care for people affected by kidney disease.

But successful partnerships require more than a shared objective. They require ongoing dialogue, active engagement, and genuine dedication from all sides. For us, partnership is not defined by a single activity. It is built over time through regular exchange, mutual learning, and continued collaboration. This sustained approach helps turn ambitions into meaningful action and places kidney health at the forefront of the conversations, policies, and initiatives that shape care.

“The strongest partnerships are built on shared goals, mutual trust, and a common commitment to achieving more together than any could on its own,” said Valerie Wehner, Head of Global Partnerships at Vantive.

Building Partnerships at a Global Scale

Through our partnership with the NCD Alliance (NCDA), the leading global civil society alliance for non-communicable diseases, we work to expand access to therapies, technologies, and services across the care continuum while supporting efforts to prevent and detect chronic kidney disease earlier. As NCDA’s sole industry partner dedicated exclusively to kidney care, we elevate kidney disease as an integral part of the broader NCD agenda.

For many years, we have maintained a close partnership with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), the leading global professional society dedicated to advancing kidney health worldwide, through education, research, and advocacy.

As the only dialysis-focused company participating in ISN's Strategic Partner Program, we provide a unique industry perspective as an innovation leader in dialysis while working alongside clinicians, researchers and policymakers.

Implementation Around the World

Kidney care challenges differ from one country to another – and so do our partnerships. Around the world, we work with organizations whose expertise and local perspective help address the needs of patients, healthcare professionals, and health systems in their respective communities. Taking the Asia Pacific Region as one example, we collaborate with professional societies such as the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) and support dialogue on patient-centered care and shared decision-making in Korea and Taiwan. Also, we foster initiatives that improve access to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia.

Caring for Communities in the United States

Progress also requires working with organizations rooted in the communities most affected by kidney disease. In the United States, African Americans face disproportionate rates of kidney disease and end-stage renal disease, a reality we are committed to addressing directly.2

That is why we partner with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to support health equity initiatives like the recent Health Equity Summit and Policy LIVE in Chicago. Through our partnership with The Links, an international, not-for-profit volunteer service organization centered on bettering the lives of women of African descent and their initiative Black K.A.R.E., we work to raise awareness around risk factors within the communities at greatest risk of chronic kidney disease.

Vantive also partners with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and specifically its Illinois chapter to support patients in the community of our U.S. headquarters. Together with NKF, we developed a home dialysis awareness campaign that gives patients with end-stage kidney disease concrete tools and decision aids to evaluate whether home dialysis might be an option to consider.
